A costumed guide will lead tours of the home which will be decorated in nineteenth-century splendor much as the Seward family would have known. The Seward family left their mark on the writing world: from countless letters to private journals to several published books, the written legacy of the Seward family is immense. Despite the fact she would never publish a book during her short life, Fanny Seward’s aspirations as an author and a playwright remain an inspiration for all who hear her story, and the journals and library she left behind provide unique insight into the turbulent time during which she lived.

The Seward House Museum invites you to join us every month this fall for a virtual book discussion with new titles in American History. Museum staff have selected four exciting books related to the life, era, or broad legacy of the Seward family. We encourage you to purchase these works and then read one along with us throughout each month. Then, join us for a live community conversation with the author of each book.

Join us on Friday, November 13th as the SHM partners with the National Museum of Civil War Medicine for a Facebook live presentation. The talk will focus on William Seward Jr., his experiences in the service, and the state of medical care during the bloody war.  

The lecture will be accessible on FB Live, starting at 12pm on 11/13. We hope to see you there!
