First Friday Community Event - 2017

First Friday of the month 5 - 8PM

Museums, galleries, restaurants, & shops host open houses with free live music, art exhibits & refreshments.

November 2017

Join us for a First Friday Community Event! On display in our gift shop gallery space will be watercolors by Christy Lemp.

As always, the dining and drawing rooms will be open, with docents on hand to answer questions and interpret the spaces. Complimentary refreshments will be provided.

This event is free and open to the public.

October 2017

Join us for a fall First Friday reception!  The Seward House will be featuring photographs taken by Dewey Neild. Neild appreciates taking photographs of Finger Lake inspired landscapes and scenery. Also enjoy a live fall concert in the garden by the Perennials!

As always, guests are invited into the Museum to view the Dining and Drawing Rooms, with docents on hand to answer questions and interpret the spaces.  Complimentary refreshments will be served.

September 2017

Join us for a September First Friday Community Event! Enjoy live music on the historic grounds by the duo MoonRabbit.  On display in our gift shop gallery space: a contemporary art show by Sally Stormon

August 2017

Join us for a First Friday Reception! Enjoy a live summer concert in the Seward House gardens by The Primates.  

The Seward House Museum is also featuring the work of Ryan O’Hara.  O’Hara is the graphic designer of all the Primates gig posters, as well as several other bands around Auburn.

As always, guests are invited into the Museum to view the Parlor and Library, with docents on hand to answer questions and interpret the spaces.  Complimentary refreshments will be served.

Join us for a First Friday Community Event!

Happy Cinco de Mayo! In 1869, Mr. Seward visited Mexico and brought back two paintings, now on display in our dining room.  Join us Friday, May 5, as we open our dining and drawing rooms, highlighting artifacts from Seward’s trip to Mexico, as well as other countries around the world.

In addition to these unique artifacts, Tom Hussey’s work will be featured in our contemporary gift shop gallery space. Hussey is a local artist known for his beautiful work with landscapes and local Auburn scenes.

Join us for a First Friday Community Event!

This year the Seward House Museum was pleased to receive grant funding for the completion of the library restoration! Join us Friday, April 7 to view the historically accurate wallpaper in the library made locally by Adelphi Paper Hangings in Sharon Springs, NY.

In addition to touring the parlor and library within the Museum, Rhonda Zahn’s work will be featured in our contemporary gift shop gallery space.
