Conversation with the Author: Reagan Graney

The Seward family left their mark on the writing world: from countless letters to private journals to several published books, the written legacy of the Seward family is immense. Despite the fact she would never publish a book during her short life, Fanny Seward’s aspirations as an author and a playwright remain an inspiration for all who hear her story, and the journals and library she left behind provide unique insight into the turbulent time during which she lived.

One such author who took inspiration from Fanny’s story is former teen volunteer, intern, and Auburn native Reagan Graney. In collaboration with the Education Department, she - a rising senior at Georgetown majoring in English with a specialization in creative writing and children’s literature - wrote and developed a story based on Fanny Seward.

Join Reagan and the SHM Education team for a special FB Live on November 6th at 12:00 pm to discuss her writing process, what she learned throughout her research, and what it was like trying to get in the mind of Fanny Seward!
