Seward Book Club Virtual Meeting

Nov 19th 2020 7:00 PM

The Seward House Museum invites you to join us every month this fall for a virtual book discussion with new titles in American History. Museum staff have selected four exciting books related to the life, era, or broad legacy of the Seward family. We encourage you to purchase these works and then read one along with us throughout each month. Then, join us for a live community conversation with the author of each book.

These programs are completely free to the public. For more information about joining these online events, please call the museum at 315-252-1283 or visit our website (www.sewardhouse.org).

November Book: Lincoln, Seward, and US Foreign Relations in the Civil War Era (University Press of Kentucky, 2019). The latest in a long line of books to consider the abiding and powerful relationship between President Lincoln and Secretary of State William Seward, Joseph Fry’s volume argues that their “unlikely” partnership in forging foreign policy tipped the scales of the Civil War. Following Lincoln and Seward over the course of international crises and diplomatic decision-making, Fry unpacks the dynamic of these two Union leaders. Fry is a distinguished professor of history emeritus at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. His book discussion with the SHM will take place on 11/19 at 7:00 PM on FB LIVE.
