Mudd House Museum Leading up to the infamous night of April 14th, 1865 a band of conspirators gathered together in the Surratt Boarding House to plan a scheme certain to throw the recently rejoined nation into turmoil. The plot: a series of attacks that targeted Union political officials in an attempt to create chaos, with targets including President Abraham Lincoln, Vice President Andrew Johnson, and Secretary of State William H. Mudd Museum, the Surratt House Museum, and the Seward House Museum discuss the planning that took place at the Surratt Boarding House, the violent attack suffered by Lincoln and Seward, and Dr. Mudd's involvement in the conspiracy, one which would culminate in the death of Lincoln.
