The SHM welcomes Kate Clifford Larson back to Auburn for this special event surrounding her book Walk With Me: A Biography of Fannie Lou Hamer. Born a century apart - one in slavery, the other in Jim Crow Mississippi - both Hamer and Harriet Tubman battled subjugation and racism to ensure equality and basic human and civil rights for all Americans. Fortified by family, faith, and community, both women inspired people to stand up and fight for justice and self-determination. Their lives and legacies are a testament to the soaring power of freedom that inspires leaders to rise up from the most unexpected places.
