The Innocence of Experience: Fanny Seward in Her Own Words

Jul 14th 2017 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Guntzel Theater, Seneca Falls | 4:00 pm

As part of Seneca Falls' annual Convention Days, join us for an encore presentation of this one-woman show!

Based on diaries kept by Fanny Seward, the youngest daughter of Secretary of State William Seward during the Civil War era, this one-act play reveals an American girl living through an extraordinary time. Her unique perspective brings the audience into the Lincoln White House and the highest reaches of power in the Union government, yet it also chronicles the familiar everyday experiences of a teenager growing up and encountering the world.

Interactive Q&A with Museum staff to follow.

This original one-woman show, written and performed by Maria Coleman, is made possible, in part, with public funds from NYSCA's Decentralization Program, administered locally by Finger Lakes Community Arts Grants.
