Girl Scout Badge Day

Sep 14th 2019 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Girl Scout Badge Day is an opportunity for Girl Scouts at all levels to experience hands-on history and earn badge requirements. This event celebrates Constitution Day and the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment giving American women the right to vote. The Finger Lakes Region of New York was a hotbed of women’s rights and abolition activity, making our museum the perfect location to learn about both. With three specialty tours geared toward different age groups, the Seward House uses the Seward women and their allies to educate Girl Scouts about the courageous women who paved the way toward success and equality. Each tour is 2 hours long and includes playing popular Victorian outdoor games. Participants will also be able to interact with historic objects and experience the Seward women’s daily life. At the end of the tour, each scout will receive a brand new Seward House Museum patch, which is included in the admission fee. The event is led by professional educators and a Lifetime Member of the GSNYPENN Pathways Council.

Three tours will run, with each tour targeted towards a specific age group. First, from 8:30-10:30 AM a tour will be for Daisies and Brownies. Next, a tour from 11:30 AM-1:30 PM, which will be for the Juniors and Cadettes. And lastly, from 2:30-4:30 PM a tour designed for Senior and Ambassador scouts. Admission is $7.00 per scout, each troop may have two free adults. All other participants are $5.00. Limited availability. Reservations required. All ranks welcome.
