Each year, Seward House welcomes thousands of school and adult group visitors. All tours are guided and can be tailored to a meet a group's interest or needs. The expansive nature of Seward House's collection allows for a variety of topics to be interpretively covered, including architecture, decorative arts, the abolition movement and the Underground Railroad, politics, geography, childhood, social customs, the Civil War and the Alaska Purchase.
Seward House curriculum materials are available to enhance your educational experience. The units utilize DBQ-based questions and cover the topics of "The Seward Family and the Underground Railroad," "A Visit to Alaska" for Elementary students and "Abolition: Words and Images" and "Alaska's Resources" for Middle School students. Please contact Curator of Education and Outreach Jennifer Haines for more information or to request a set.
School visit fees: Your school's visit is important to us. While we suggest $1.00 per student, any donation would be gratefully accepted. Teachers, chaperones and bus drivers receive complimentary admission. School tours for November-December and May-June book quickly.
